Basic Beginning Quilting with Susan
Do you want to learn how to make a quilt, but don't know where to start? This may be the class for you! This is a slower-paced, step by step series of 6 Friday classes. Topics covered will include rotary cutting, block construction, quilt top assembly and squaring up, creating the quilt sandwich and finally, quilting with a walking foot and binding. Do you have a quilt project that you're struggling with? Are you stuck on a technique issue like making flying geese, or half square triangles that don't line up? Are your blocks coming out wonky and you don't know why? Perhaps you're having trouble understanding steps in a pattern? We can fix it! Bring in your quilting project and we'll help you get it done! Bring your questions, your project, and your sewing supplies (machine, rulers, thread, etc.) You'll have the whole class period to figure out the problem, and then work on your project with our guidance, so you'll have the confidence you need to finish that quilt! You may come any time within the 4 hour window, just be sure you allow enough time to troubleshoot your problem!

In this class, Justine will teach you how to make the Katie Quilt from GE Designs. At first it looks difficult, but she’ll take the mystery out of making these intricate blocks without ever cutting or sewing small squares. The pattern uses 10” squares, either a packaged collection or you can cut your own. A Stripology ruler is highly recommended and will make quick, easy work of the project, but Justine will also show you how to do it with a 12-½" square. Use our 20% class discount for the ruler!

They make around 1000 cases per month for Phoenix Children's Hospital and other hospitals. FABRIC WILL BE PROVIDED. Make pillowcases and drop them off at the store. What a great cause!!! They are always looking for volunteers to help.

You should have done previous sewing and are familiar with your sewing machine to get the most from this fast pace class. You will learn how to read a pattern, cutting skills, sewing, squaring up, walking foot quilting and finishing. This class will set you out on your own quilting adventure, and have you creating masterpieces in no time at all. Your class manual is included in the fee for the class. This will be one of your first quilts and provides learning half-square triangles, rail strips and nine-patch throughout the quilt.
